Slow-Moving SKUs

Slow-moving SKUs are item variants whose movement or sales are low under a defined business rule. There is no universal number of days that makes every product slow-moving. Seasonality, product age, service obligations, and the chosen unit affect the interpretation.

An illustrative rule might flag stocked variants with no sales in 90 days, excluding launches younger than 90 days. If 15 of 100 eligible stocked variants meet the rule, the flagged share is 15%. State whether returns, transfers, and canceled sales affect the count. Low recorded sales during a stockout are not evidence of low demand.

Check quantities, inventory value, aging, future demand, and disposal or return options before acting. A slow-selling expensive spare can remain necessary. ABC classes commonly reflect value or importance under a chosen rule; they should not automatically be treated as sales-speed classes.
