Architecture Decisions and Rationale
A walk through one architecture decision: constraints, quality scenarios, alternatives, one-way and two-way doors, an ADR, and the triggers for revisiting it.

Fast, reliable, and scalable mean different things to different teams. Define each quality precisely, measure it, and see where improving one costs another.
A quality attribute says how well a system performs, not what it performs. It becomes useful once the target, the boundary, and the criterion for judging it are stated.
The Pareto frontier is the set of options that no other option dominates, meaning at least as good on every objective and strictly better on one. It removes dominated choices but leaves the final trade-off to a preference.
