Assessment Rubric

An assessment rubric defines criteria and the descriptions associated with ratings. It makes a judgment more explicit so assessors can explain how evidence supports a result. It does not remove the need for interpretation.

Replace vague labels with behavior

For recovery capability, “advanced” could mean many things. A clearer description is that a backup operator has demonstrated recovery using a maintained procedure under agreed conditions. Merely possessing the procedure supports a weaker claim.

Specify the scope and acceptable evidence before examining results where possible.

Keep disagreements and revisions visible

Two assessors may interpret the same evidence differently. Compare their reasoning and record unresolved differences rather than averaging them away. Keep a rubric version with the result. A higher rating after the descriptions change may reflect a changed measurement rule rather than an actual improvement.
