Fill Rate

Fill rate is the share of requested demand fulfilled under a defined supply rule. Unit fill rate counts units; line fill rate counts fully fulfilled order lines; complete-order fill rate counts orders with every required line fulfilled. Specify whether the cutoff is immediate availability, first shipment, or another agreed window.

In a hypothetical cohort, 50 orders request 100 units of one product variant. At first shipment, 97 units ship; three different orders are each short one unit. Unit fill rate is 97 / 100 = 97%, while complete-order fill rate is 47 / 50 = 94%. Keep the original eligible demand visible rather than removing short orders from the denominator.

Fill performance differs from on-time delivery and from the probability of avoiding a stockout during a replenishment cycle. A later shipment can complete an order without changing its first-shipment result. Record backorders and cancellations separately, and compare only metrics with compatible units, populations, and timing.
